New Eyewear at Tour de France

Oakley Anti-Freeze Radar XL
Oakley likes releasing special edition versions of its eyewear and this trend is set to continue with the launch of the new Anti-Freeze Radar XL for the upcoming Tour de France.

The release also brings a new frame option to the popular Radar range. The XL uses an updated design which places the frame higher on the face with an extra 7mm of lens between the nose bridge and the top of the frame, extending the range of view for the wearer. Which means, when you've got your head down you can see clearly through the lens, rather than peering above the frame.

To launch this new addition to the Radar range Oakley has released the very limited edition Anti-Freeze, a vivid green frame colour paired with a Jade Iridium lens, a lens intended for bright sunshine and that Oakley has 'been developing for truer colour recognition'.

The Anti-Freeze is available in the new XL Blade or the existing Path design. They're available in shops now and Oakley says this is a one-time production run and numbers will be very limited, so don't hang around if you want a pair is our advice.

Shimano's New Eyewear

S70X

Shimano has launched a range of eyewear which will make their first debut at the 2009 Tour de France starting on 4 July. Sponsored riders Sandy Casar, Jérémy Roy, Kenny van Hummel and Fumiyuki Beppu will be the selected riders putting the latest eyewear through their paces.

There are two models, the S70X and the S50F. Using a fully integrated Metal Fit Design and Beta-titanium wires, the S70X features a bold design that will no doubt make them stand out in the crowded peloton.

Less bold but still stylish is the S50R

This isn't Shimano's first foray into eyewear of course. It produced the Zenith, and the new S50R is that models successor. Using a one-piece lens for excellent vision and sculptured arms.

Both models are designed using 3D Fit Technology which enables Shimano to create what it claims to be the perfect fit with comfortable adjustable large nose pads and temples.

Catlike Storm Eyewear
Catlike has introduced a new model to join its existing eyewear range, the Storm.

The stylish Storm use a half-frame design with a seperate nosepiece, and there's venting ports in the arms. Two different shaped photochromatic lenses designs (Plus and Micro) are available, with both getting venting ports across the top to eliminate fogging.
