Specialized PRO

  • Specialized PRO road cycling shoe.
  • BodyGeometry system is one of the best system in the market.
  • Feet are naturally canted so that the big toe is higher than the little piggy. This is good for walking or running, but not for cycling!! On a bike, this angulation caused collapse of the foot on the downstroke, and potentially damaging knee pressure.
  • When you take a step, your heel strikes the ground, the foot arch compressed, the rebounds, returning the stored energy to the forefoot to finish the stride. If the arch flexed this way during cycling, you'll loose energy with every downstroke.
  • Specialized's BodyGeometry system supports the foot with arch support in the outsole and footbed, transmitting every watt generated straight to the pedal.
  • BodyGeometry shoes employ an ergonomically designed matatarsal button that lifts and separate the long bones of the forefoot, the matatarsals, so that the nerves and arteries between them don't get compressed, this will eliminate hotfoot and numbs on your foot.

Polarized Sunglasses

For years, boaters and fishermen have used polarized sunglasses to reduce reflected glare from the water surrounding them. But now that many others who spend time outdoors have discovered the benefits of polarized lenses, the popularity of these types of sunglasses has soared.
Besides boaters, outdoor enthusiasts who benefit the most from polarized sunglasses include cyclist, skiers, golfers, bikers, and joggers, who enjoy a clearer view along with elimination of glare.
These sunglasses can be used for driving and, in fact, can reduce glare from a long, flat surface such as the hood of the car or the road's surface. When you place a book or a parking coupon on the hood, there will be an annoying reflect on the windscreen, by wearing polarized sunglasses will eliminates these reflect and you will have a crystal clear view when driving.
Polarized sunglasses can also be used indoors by light-sensitive people, including post-cataract surgery patients and those continually exposed to bright light through windows.

How Do Polarized Lenses Work?
Light reflected from surfaces like a flat road or smooth water is generally horizontally polarized. This horizontally polarized light is blocked by the vertically oriented polarizers in the lenses.
The result: a reduction in annoying and sometimes dangerous glare.
However, polarized lenses may react adversely with liquid crystal displays (LCDs) found on the dashboards of some cars or in other places such as the digital screens on automatic teller (bank) machines. The problem with LCDs is that when viewed through polarized lenses from a certain angle, they can be invisible.
Also there will be some rainbow colour reflect by looking through a tinted car. Anyway this doesn't affect much as you still have a clearer view under these polarized sunglasses..

fizik Arione Saddle

This white special edition Fizik's centre silver stripe is just a plastic wrap. Though the colour is very nice, but the plastic wrap at the centre and nose tip (Pic 3) began to peel off after a year riding. I normally lean my bike to the wall in the house, 1 day my brother walk pass by and knock down the bike. This cause a "big" crack on the saddle!! Really heart pain!

Later I change to a new Fizik full leather, thinking that without the fancy plastic wrap this saddle can last longer.. After 6 months, surprisingly I found that the front side leather began to peel off!! Recently I more in riding my MTB and only doing road one/twice a week, I can't believe I need to change for a new Fizik again!!

And my latest: Fizik ArioneCX with carbon railing...

During the last decade saddles have gone through a fast evolution. Holes, slots, elasto-polymer gel, visco-elastomer, open cell foam, closed cell ensolite, liquid flow-packs, multi-durometer, nitrogen impregnated micro-cellular urethane elastomer shock absorbers in the rails, carbon fiber rails, carbon fiber shells, synthetic covers, pneumatic pads... Everything has been tried. I myself having tried on Selle Italia, Selle San Marco, Velo, at last found this Fizik Arione model that suits me best!!

Longer than any other saddle at full 30cm long, Arione provides riders more options as to where they can position their pelvis over the bottom bracket. This 30 cm (3 cm additional over other saddles) range of motion provides substantial enhanced capability for the rider to employ new pedaling geometries. This also includ being able to effectively raise and lower the saddle as riders slide forward and backward on the saddle itself. The farther back you position yourself, effectively the higher you are. The farther forward you slide the lower you are effectively, positioned more vertically over the bottom bracket and compressing the pedal stroke. This affords the cyclist a wide range of pedaling styles not as available of traditional saddle designs.

The length of the saddle is only part of the story. The Arione uses Fizik’s “Wing Flex” saddle frame. The design is very simple. A series of slots or perforations are molded into the outer edge of the saddle frame where you thighs are. There are eight slots on the upper surface and twelve underneath the saddle. The idea is the slots flex and, eventually, form minor cracks to facilitate the rider’s anatomy precisely. The saddle is designed to literally “break in” to each individual rider.

This design approach on the Arione is much better than putting holes or slots in a saddle. If you view a “men’s” or “women’s” saddle with a hole in it from the bottom when there is a rider on it you notice the hole closes up almost entirely, sometimes completely depending on rider weight. This only makes saddle problems worse by creating a concave recess in the saddle and suddenly making it narrower. Saddles with holes and slots in them make sense on the shelf, but not under your butt where a rider’s weight change their shape completely.

Though aready have problems with my 2 Fizik Arione, but will still continue using it coz I can't find any saddle that can replace my love on Fizik Arione!! If you are having saddle comfort issues on a road or triathlon bike, I would suggest a Fizik Arione before any other saddle.

p/s: This Arione is only mean for road, but not for MTB!!

Critical Measurement:
Overall length: 30.1 cm
Usable Rail Length: 9.0cm
Center to Nose: 14.4cm
Center to Tail: 15.3cm
Weight: 252gm
Total Depth: 49.9mm

Sprint king Mario Cipollini return!!

Posted: 18 January 2008 1952 hrs
ROME : Former sprint king Mario Cipollini is set to come out of retirement and sign a contract with American team Rock and Republic.
The 40-year-old, 2002 world champion, who arrived in California to negotiate with team officials, retired two years ago but is expected to formally complete a deal shortly.
The Italian would likely start competition at the Tour of California from February 17 to 24 and then take part in about 15 races for the rest of the year.
The American team, led by Michael Ball, who is both involved with Rock and Republic clothing as well as being team owner, wants to make the most of Cipollini's popularity, his personality and his experience to help the team progress.
According to Gazzetta, Ball's project is to make his team, currently composed of young American cyclists, the best in the world in five year's time.

Can't wait to see my favourite cycling hero back in action again!!

Specialized Decibel LibertySeguros edition

Bought this helmet from a Malaysian Rider, Ng Yong Li when he's riding for the LibertySeguros Under23 team. Not sure with Specialized's unique size, so buy 2, size M and L.

When I tried on, the size M can't fit into my head at all!!
Thought that the size L will fit me, who know it's also suit those egg-shaped head. For me, the helmet seems like floating on my head.. Give-up on Specialized's helmet, wont buy it anymore, even though the new 2D looks sexy!!

Uvex Speedster Sunglasses

RM 180
  • Made in Germany Uvex Speedster sunglasses.
  • Supravision Litemirror Silver lense - Shade factor class 3

  • Teacher vs. Prisoner

Finally got my streamyx connection after 2 weeks without internet..
Being posted to a small town called Langkap in Perak, where I need to find new home, and apply for a new internet line.

Nowadays, being a teacher is not easy.. we will be posted to new places that are far from our hometown. I myself being posted 400km away from my family!! Some of my friends being posted deep into the jungle, where only boat can reach that small village. Imagine a young girl being sent to those place, it's really horrible when there's no water and electric supply!!

Somemore they purposely don't wan to let us know where we got posted. They will call us to a centre in the state's capital city, morning will give us some briefing, then afternoon only let us know where we got posted. At the same afternoon we will rush to the place we got posted and start to look for house and the school (Because the next day we start to teach dy!!). Some places is over 300km from the centre!! I think those officers like to see us panic and helpless..

I wonder why the government wanna treat us (young teacher) like the ancient China's prisoner?? Back in ancient time, when the prisoners in China is found guilty, they will be sent to the desert area most-north part in China, and there's no town or other facilities in those area. 2000 years later, the same thing happen to these young teacher here!!

Some of us are more lucky, though a small town, but everything still have, only don't have a bikeshop and shopping mall.. :) But if I miss and want to meet my parents, I need to take a town bus from Langkap to Ipoh, then go to Kuala Lumpur, then only take the third bus back to Kuantan. During Chinese New Year or Hari Raya Puasa then will be very hard to get tickets back..

Everyday there's thousands of government servants travelling just to meet with their family, and tis is a waste of money since the transportation fee considered not cheap, somemore they need to rent a room, eating outside, everything need money!! If the government need to pay so much petrol subsidise to the petrol company each year, why not bring back those government servant back to their hometown, then they no need to travel everyday. Less travel means less petrol consumption, less petrol consumption means less petrol subsidise!! (Joke only.. I'm not that wise to comment on these policies)

Sometimes I was confused with the posting system, I myself is from Pahang and being posted to Perak, then my Perak's classmate being send to Johor, while in Pahang there's Johor's teacher!!
Anyway, just hope that God will always be with us, especially young female teachers, so that we can have a safe and happy life here..

p/s: No more online shopping for me anymore, coz can't receive international package here...
