Pro riders need a lighter, more comfortable and above all, better ventilated helmet, as Gianni Bugno said, so Limar went all out to create a new model and deliver what the pros want; thus the F104 was born, a true "capolavoro" that was used by Bugno as his team became Team Polti in '94. Limar's F104 had an innovative, aerodynamic look with a pointed "tail" derived from wind tunnel studies by Limar designed to reduce helmet drag and 10 holes to provide maximum ventilation. Bugno quickly brought worldwide attention to the F104 when he won the Tour Of Flanders for Polti that spring and soon, many teams were contacting Limar for their effective new helmet.
Limar continued to have success in the sports marketing arena through the 1990's with the highly successful association with Argentin & Berzin on Team Gewiss and the womens Sanson cycling team, Paola Pezzo's Atlanta Olympic Gold in '96 as well as the relationship that began with Bjarne Riis and Team Telekom in '96. Although Telekom had a different helmet sponsor in '96, Riis didn't want to change his helmet from the Limar F104 he had grown attached to on Gewiss. Many other Telekom riders also asked Limar for a lighter, more comfortable and cooler helmet and soon enough, the entire Telekom team switched to Limar.
